Yosefien | A Review Blog

Last week, I applied for a free sample set of Iris Angelique Essence Sublime and BB Cream from Indonesia's L'Occitane website which available from August 17th-25th August. Once approved, I brought printed mail as a proof and got mine at Trans Studio Mall, Bandung, and who'd expect that I would receive a mini sample size -probably for two times of using each. But well, I've been curious to try L'Occitane as they claim themself as an organic and paraben free product, so this was really a good chance to know more.

So let's take a look.
(Sample) Packaging

The sample's is only as big as my hand- if you also watch my first picture and what's inside is even less than the outside (packaging). Well, I think this is acceptable since the real size of this product costs really expensive for only 30 mL (around IDR 610,000). You can't expect more, sadly. However in Indonesia, we translate it into "Angelica" not "Angelique".

Since L'Occitane is originally from Paris, you would notice that its first information is written in French language, not English. Ok, so it says to: Apply on face every morning and evening on a clean and dry skin before applying your moisturizer. Noted.

As for the ingredients:
Aqua/water, glycerin, methyl methacrylate, crosspolymer, sodium polyacrylate, Iris Florentina Root Ectract, Iris Pallida Root Extract, Angelica Archangelica Root Extract, Angelica Archangelica Root Oil, Lens Esculenta (Lentil) Fruit Extract, Sucrose Palm/tate, Tetra Sodium, Iminodisuccinate, Glycerin Linoleate, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Aspartic Acid, Fumaric Acid, Malic Acid, Maleic Acid, Ethylhecylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Salicylic Acid, Chlorphenesin, Potassium, Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol, Parfum Fragrance, Tin Oxide, Cl 77019/MICA, Cl 77491/Iron Oxides, Cl 77891/Titanium Dioxide.

The bold-type ingredients are from organic farming. From the information I've accessed from the website, this product is from the root extract of Angelique root from Drome; which has hydrating power and claimed to be able increasing water circulation by stimulating aquaporins production. Angelique Oil also can prevent skin from free-radical and increase skin elasticity. Sounds promising. Iris itself is from Iris Florentina Extract (from Herault) and Iris Pallida (from Itali) which promise to increase cell regeneration, renew skin epidermis, reduce redness and scars. Awesomeness.

Still, we won't know before trying.

The Product

One sample size can last for 2-3 times using, since for me, I can only use it two times; day and night and the rest is the material for reviewing. This essence has white-pinkish color, gel form, its thickness is medium-not easily flowing and absorbed quickly. I love the fragrance a lot, very sweet and subtle, I hope it's safe by the way.

When applied, it has no color and so transparent, but don't worry, it absorbed very quick and unexpectedly made my skin so moist and hydrated.

Day using. As as serum, please use this essence on the very first. Later I'll add my moisturizer before applying BB Cream. The result: my face was less oily for the whole day and the make up could last even longer, really proud of it! I didn't experience any itchy/irritation due my first time using.

Night using. I used it before my regular night cream, and it works even better than my regular serum, it really worth the price. On the next morning, I feel my face way smoother and glowy. I didn't notice pore getting smaller, maybe in frequent using. But overall, feeling satisfied with this essence a lot!

The Rate

Somehow, I really wish to be able using this product in full size, it looks promising with its organic ingredients: paraben-free. But, remember to spend it fast, since it doesn't contain preservative ingredient, this product could only last less than a year after opened.

I couldn't give reliable rate based on one-time using, but well: this is a good product, regardless the price
4/5

See you.

This product hit Indonesia on last September 2012 and you know what? Almost every Indonesian beauty bloggers immediately got crazy over it. Well, to be honest, I wasn't among them until early 2013. Simply because I was using another brand and I thought it would be expensive (since they were imported, which later I realized, they were actually not. Indonesia's Hada Labo is manufactured in Indonesia but the original ingredients are imported from Japan) while the most embarrassing point is I didn't particularly understand about hyaluronic acid, back then.

Reviews have been everywhere up until today and I treated myself to read each of them. Some are good, some are freaking scary. Me, at first, desperately endured my desire to own one until finally I had spent my daily moisturizer and decided to search for a new one.

So after using 6 months, still counting. I'm ready to share my opinion.

I have combination skin type to begin with, just for your reference. Here, due to the raising heat in my city, my face becomes very dry and it's difficult (+ annoying) lately to apply make-up base evenly. That's why I desperately need a good moisturizer, actually I prefer for those that also have whitening agent, but again, my kind of sensitive skin doesn't allow me to choose whatever things I want. Just so you know I had ended up with so many products which succeeded blocking my pores and causing pimples (+ zits).

At first, I couldn't distinguish between moisturizing milk and lotion variant, but finally ended to choose this. And these are the reason why:
1) High moisturizing milk.
2) Replenishes & locks in moisture for complete hydration
3) Maintain elasticity and smooth-healthy skin
4) For supple and soft skn
5) fragrance and colorant free.

Sounds promising just how you look at it.

Now let's talk about the Hyaluronic Acid (Hyaluronan) that they proud of. So, in fact this hyaluronan actually plays an important role for treating dry and scaly skin, induce tissue healing, wound-healing application.

Well, how come it answered exactly what I need? They claim:
1) To be able double moisture skin with their improved hyaluronic acid (AcHA)
2) Their nano-size hyaluronic acid can be absorbed quickly and moisture skin longer
3) 1 gr hyaluronic acid may block 6 L of water
4) It matches human skin pH, with low irritation risk
5) Light texture

For complete ingredients:
Water, Hydrogenated Poly (C6-12 Olefin), Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, PPG-10 Methyl Glucose Ether, PEG-20 Sorbitan Isostearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Dimethicone, Stearyl Alcohol, Carbomer, Methylparaben, Behenyl Alcohol, Triethanolamine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Propylparaben, Phytostearyl/Octyldodecyl Lauroyl Glutamate, Disodium EDTA, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate.

The advertorial said 'one drop for all' and it's absolutely true. You just need to take out a single drop for your entire face and neck, wait for about 3-6 minutes for your skin to absorb before applying another make-up (layer). I find my BB Cream/foundation/base can be applied easier and evenly.

Caution: don't use more than a single drop, or you will find the liquid would not be absorbed quickly and as a result, leaving your face look so oily. And please be patient to wait before applying another layer.

This liquid really has light texture and drips easily. Once you apply on your face, it doesn't have any color or even cover anything. No spf at all so don't forget to add your sunblock for daily activities. For additional, I don't use other Hada Labo after this milk, I will then apply my BB Cream/Foundation then finish it with powder.

Magically, it turned out to be the best moisturizer I've ever used so far. One bottle can last for more than 6 months eventhough I use it every single day. Not even break-out so far. My face becomes less dry and oily at the same time.

The price is quiet affordable around ~IDR 30,000 (US$ 3).

So what's your current moisturizer? Mind to share? Have you tried Hada Labo variant?

August 10th is my birthday. Yes. Today is my birthday. Thank you, but I made no party, so, sorry. After two years celebrating my day without my only love -since he was so busy back then, finally this year had been a special one for me. Accompanying me for a whole day, what could I ask for more? I asked him if we can just celebrate this together, only two of us, in a special place, and he said yes.

So we found this place from the internet. Bukit Moko, the highest point in Bandung, 1,500 m above the sea level. A place to share beautiful moments, place for lovers, place for gathering, hiking spots, and adventurer, perhaps you may want to visit here someday?

How to get there?

Thanks to internet, lol. First, just go straight along Jalan Padasuka, Bandung -where you will pass Saung Angklung Udjo. Just go along the road, I even took my time taking picture of every gate we'd been through to memorize it.

Too bad I didn't check my odometer so I couldn't calculate how far, but from an article here, the length between Jalan Padasuka - Bukit Moko is around 8 km. Before reaching Bukit Moko, we will find Caringin Tilu or Cartil with its stalls of roasted corn or toast bread (picture number 8), you may want to take some rest.

After passing Caringin Tilu you will notice that the road is getting worse, rocky and narrower. But it doesn't take any far we will see a sign directing to 'Cafe WD' or 'Cafe Warung Daweung'. Just a step ahead, walking through the road climbs.

Welcome!

So, this is Bukit Moko, the Warung Daweung itself. It feels homy and relaxing, but sadly when I went there the place wasn't maintained properly. What a waste!

The air is fresh and cold but yet still I can feel the warm of the sun light. We chose to sit inside the room instead being outside.

The price of food and drinks are affordable. Kezo goreng sosis. Kezo is actually 'nasi'/rice.
So we ordered Thonkseng and Kezo goreng special. Obviously, Thonkseng or tongseng is kind of beef stew. The taste was over all ordinary, not that bad, nor that good, weren't that impressing but okay.
Thonk seng
Kezo goreng special, has 2 eggs.
I didn't feel any necessary to stay bit longer inside so we decided to explore the view outside, and here you will see some of my photo-hunting results. Enjoy!
Backyard
Other visitors. Feels like I could touch the sky.

Because I'm a flower addict

After all, I've been here.

Just several weeks before Tangkuban Parahu was temporarily closed for visitors due its volcanic activities, I went there just for my short getaway on the weekend. It was a nice trip, we only need 1,5 hour from Bandung by motorcycle. Enjoying the fresh air and the tea plantation along the road.

The entry ticket was affordable, only IDR 13.000, me and mister went to Ratu crater one of crater in Tangkuban Parahu.

Sadly, the sky was foggy but it didn't stop us to keep exploring the mountain.

Many souvenir shops are available here if you want to buy some gifts about Tangkuban Parahu; necklace, waistband.

The price is negotiable, I bought a ponco for only IDR 25,000. The figurine on the picture below was about IDR 20,000. I bought one and wrote a message behind it.

Here are gems, if you're such a collector. Price ranges IDR 250,000 until IDR 700,000.

We walked a bit higher to get a better view from above.

So many stalls, you can enjoy the hot coffee, sekoteng, bandrek, bajigur, hot tea down there.

Roasted corn was also yummy for around IDR 6,000.

We also enjoyed roasted corns and fresh milk.

It's nice to go to the mountain, after all.

One thing I learned from travelling is always broaden your knowledge before leaving, if you can gain more information from the internet even before you reach your destination then simply do it rather than feeling lost for knowing nothing once you get there.

My last trip to Thailand taught me that. I was joining a tour at that time and it was obvious that I got the itinerary but yet how come I didn't feel the need to do browsing about each place I would visit, lol. As a result? I often missed the good parts and couldn't explore each place entirely. For example, The Asiatique Riverfront in Bangkok.

The Asiatique is famous for its fashion boutiques and culinary spots, it was good that I had the chance to visit it -but please, not on my first day in Bangkok, I prefer. Without any prior knowledge instead feeling tired from the three hours flight, just as expected I was completely blank, and too bad that I had just finished having dinner I felt so sleepy already. The seafood dishes were look so mouth-watering, but even the snacks couldn't shake me. So afterall I was thinking 'Shouldn't we suppose to take a rest first?', 'Why should I shop on my first day?' for the whole time.

And afterall, guess what?? I almost missed all of those cheap and fashionable stuffs! Of course I was walking around the whole area, I looked at every boutique, I entered each shop and checked -only checked the stuffs but ended without buying (well, only some) since I didn't know what standard price to compare, lack of reading references.

Gosh, all 200 Baht?? I was restricted myself for buying too much since the tourist guide suggested us there are more cheaper places to shop at. But The Asiatique has the most unique things of all!

Trust me, these fashionable clothes, bags, shoes, and accessories are hard to find anywhere outside The Asiatique! So my suggestion: believe in your heart. Feel interested toward something? Have no problem dealing with the price? Then just go for it otherwise you will regret -just like me.

The Asiatique Riverfront is extremely biggg!!! You can check the map on their website, anyway. But, another disappointment that my tourist guide only gave us 2 hours to explore this place and it's already night; Charoenkrung District- more than 1,000 boutiques, Town Square District- an outdoor activity combining East and West cultures, Factory District, -more classy atmosphere, Waterfront District, -the area I haven't explored.

Even souvenirs which I found here were actually cheaper than other shops I visited afterward, what a big regret the way I didn't buy more gifts here, since those were also having special designs.

I hope I can visit and explore The Asiatique more if I have another chance to visit Bangkok, I'll shop to the fullest, til my last coin, til drop eventually! Mean it.

But if you want to suggest other place better than The Asiatique, you're very welcome!
